Kathy is coming! Storm Kathleen that is. More rain and wind for parts of the UK including the Southwest.
Brits love to talk about the weather. There’s a general optimism – we always hope it is going to turn out nice again. And it does. Eventually.
Bad weather, bad news, bad breath are all great grist for comedy writers.
I recall my first ever set. It was my final performance at Plymouth University. It dealt with becoming single and dating… again and again and… again; the joys of childbearing, and the scattering of my dad’s ashes in a storm. How the audience laughed. These stories were godsends for crafting comedy.
If you have any adversities; personal observations of the world, or some pertinent punning etc etc, join my Spring comedy course on Thursday 16 April. Let's make many pithy punchlines from your tales, amid much mirth and sensitivity.
If you can’t make the course and you’re a woman. Come along on Monday 8 April for a masterclass in connecting with your audience comedy writing and a short gig. Once again, lots of laughs and support from the group and Dr Maggie Irving.
Nasty storm Kathleen has been forecast to pack a punch this weekend; come along tonight before the deluges, lightening and gales hit - and only enjoy striking comic punchlines.
As usual, a huge thanks for your support from Maggie and the team :)
