It’s a HOWLER!
Hurrah! Loads more funny women are coming to my comedy classes. Hurrah! I am so pleased. There is a women's comedy get together on the 8th January - would love to see as many of you as possible (see link in comments). Diversity in the comedy world is so important – to hear different perspectives on the same topic from a range of people is a portal into how they view the world and can often be markedly educational as well as belly achingly hilarious. Howls of laughter echoed around the Exeter Citygate Hotel, Cellar Bar, as comedians crafted their individual yet modern take on one aspect of Shakespeare’s Seven Ages of Man/Woman +. Forsooth, I mean you had to be there. They were encouraged to be ridiculous, silly and include physicality – someone remarked what a safe space it was. Result. Slipping in some clowning into stand up reaps rewards – well done funny people. More! I encourage the comedians to carry on crafting and performing after a course. And several of them were due to perform tonight at my monthly Comedy Mash-Up at Exeter Citygate Hotel. But rain stopped play. These Mash-Ups are all about building sets, and the confidence and skills to perform to unknown audiences. Thanks everyone for supporting this venture. We are in Exmouth on 23 November – comedy workout – Fit to Laugh - ‘cause it’s in a gym. Part proceeds go to The Alzheimer’s Society. Please support this worthy cause along with the local up and coming comedians who will be belting out their best sets. As usual, have a lovely week and thanks for your continued support Maggie and the team :)
