Get gut busting - it's good for you!

Get gutsy!

Lactobacillus, laughs and leeks/leaks... “The road to health is paved with good intestines!” Sherry A. Rogers

Adolescentis, animalis, bifidum, breve and longum. Lactobacillus: acidophilus, brevis, casei, fermentum, gasseri, johnsonii, paracasei, plantarum, delbrueckii, rhamnosus, reuteri and salivarius - your hard-working gut bacteria, Bifidobacterium & Lactobacillus, are all healthy bacteria, essential for good health - your Super Cleaners! I have been nourishing my gut for the past twenty + years and especially during the Spring months, with full body cleanse trips (with coffee colonics), to Thailand, and more recently at the Karuna Detox Retreat in Tiverton, Devon (photos taken whilst enjoying the cleanse). A platinum car type MOT (an annual exhaust to engine health check for humans too - literally!)

During, and post cleanse, I fill my body with yummy, healthy bacteria and dump all those nasty toxins. I am now about to start avoiding foods with lectin (apparently these can cause all kinds of problems), and consume more food with prebiotics and probiotics. I sure know how to live! But exercise is also key to supporting my health. So, I love my comedy lessons, where I am treated to, and share gut splitting laughter – thanks everyone. A study found exercise promotes the growth of bacteria which produce the fatty acid, butyrate and butyrate can promote repair of the gut lining and reduce inflammation. I love leeks, broccoli, onions, garlic and asparagus all of which contain – you’ve guessed it - butyrate! If you want to try a comedy class, do join us this Spring. No coffee colonics, fasting or yoga moves, but plenty of grins, guffaws and giggles; physical comedy, openness and sharing. You only need 3 hours of exercise per week to produce butyurate – so why not enjoy a comedy workout. “Live dirtier. Eat cleaner.” Robynne Chutkan. But don’t eat your cleaner! That’s all from Dr Irving PhD – no I am not a medical doctor but I do like to help bust those deep belly laughs - boom.

As usual, big thanks and love from Maggie and the Comedy Matters team - and have a great week :)
