Forgot. But not forgotten…

Firstly - a big, big thanks to The City Gate Hotel for hosting us, and providing yet another warm welcome! After six weeks of clowning around, improvising, providing starter points for humorous storytelling, letting off steam, editing and practising, ironing out wrinkles, adding a splash of toilet humour (guffaw), my Exeter City Gate, Cellar Bar comedy class finally performed. Funnily enough, they perform week in, week out, and the gig at the end is fine tuning, with a very appreciative audience. We had amazing magic, comic rants, a surprise supersized wig, physical humour, dead pan deliveries, comedy characters and lots of laughs. Bravo! I forgot to get a group photo! Clown! But I will never forget the bold, robust, adventurous, unique and truly memorable sets. Sadly, not everyone could get there on the night, but I do know they are keen to gig in a kind of masochistic way. People say stand up is terrifying. It can be. Sure. But when it’s delivered in such a way that you feel you’re having a conversation and that you totally own your material, then, it’s definitely doable and fun. Yes, fun. It is. Honest. Fun. If you can’t make it in person, then join us for some fun and learning, online – starting – 19 April at the marginally later time of 7.15pm start. And another in-person 6 week stand up comedy course starts on 11 April, at the usual time of 7-9pm. Watch this space as the next round will have some exciting changes!

As usual, big thanks and love from Maggie and the Comedy Matters team - and have a great week :)
